The Day We Were Officially Belonged To Each Other..

Wake up for Subuh and didn’t sleep back after that. Too much to do and too nervous to continue slumber! Last night I slept at almost 2a.m. Started applying henna on my finger and toe nails only at 1a.m and finish applying at nearly 2am with the help from Kakngah. This morning, when I anxiously opened the wrapping of henna around my nails, I was very disappointed looking at the pale orange colour of my henna. It was not anticipated at all since I was using Makkah henna which I bought during my Umrah visit last year. “Dh masuk angin agaknye..” said 1 of my mom’s disappointed friends. Everybody promptly suggested me to apply the liquid henna (on top of the pale coloured henna) which I was avoiding from the beginning coz the colour is bright only for a few hours after application and later on faded as though you are applying only magic colour on your nails. It was not my favorite at all. But what choice do I have at this last minute? I decided to wait until the wrinkle on my finger skins (due to prolong henna wrapping) to vanish and only then will I apply the liquid henna coz they still hurt. After an hour, the wrinkle starts to disappear and I noticed the pale colour of the henna starts to darken into bright orange. Another hour later, it starts to turn into beautiful reddish orange! I was amazed and also delighted coz I don’t have to resort to the boring liquid henna, hurrah!

The atmosphere was even more hectic today with people (especially my mom) pacing from the kitchen to the buffet table under the porch. I tried to help around but my mom doesn’t allow me to, just like yesterday. “You’re the raja sehari today. Don’t touch anything..it’s your big day..so just watch..” she proclaimed. Wahh..bestnye…betul2 rase mcm raja…jadi mandur ajer dr semlm…bukan senang mama nk bg peluang ceni…hehehe…

Dayana and Tasya came as early as 10 o’clock am dh siap berbaju kurung… my baju nikah belum iron lagi…Dayana la jadi mangsa kene gosokkan…bibik dh sibuk kt dapur tlg Cik Mu. “Esah, aku nk tlg ape?” Tasya eagerly asked.

“Kau ek? Hmm…” me thinking deeply.

“Owh..bole x tlg jahitkan kain nikah aku…butik tu jahit x cukup kemas la die punye renda patches…you just have to jelujur jer…x susah…just to ensure the renda is well intact with my kain.”

“Err…okkaayyy….jelujur tu cene?”

Duhh…I forgot that back in SHAH Pekan, Tasya and Ayu were the only girls who refuse to take Home Science and opt to Pertanian instead, joining all the boys. Hahahaa…no offence dear, but I seriously forgot!

Not long after that, Azlee Samad (my wedding photographer cum Abang’s primary school friend) arrived. Asked him to have breakfast first (prepared by another kind neighbour, Aunty Azizah) and later asked him to make himself at home while waiting for my Make Up Artist to arrive. At about 11am, my Kak Lela TV3 the make–up artist arrived. Asked her to have some breakfast first while I get prepared for the make-up session. At about 11.30am the make-up session starts. Kak Lela was a very nice and very soft-spoken lady. She was kind enough to share some make-up tips with my sister and friends while doing my face. And she was a real expert. True as Kak Siti claimed, she made over people’s face as though our face is only a piece of canvas and she’s Leonardo Da Vinci. She doesn’t even need full concentration as she could chattered away with me and everybody in the room while doing my face! And the result was super gorgeous. Even Azlee Samad admitted it.

Today was Friday, so the men including the wedding photog had to go for Jumaat prayer. So he couldn’t capture the moments while my face was been done. He arrived back at about 2.15pm while I was about to put on my tudung. At nearly 3 o’clock, I went downstairs straight to the pelamin to get ready for the Nikah ceremony. The Tok Kadi was already at the living hall with Ayah and all my relatives and Abang’s family. I saw abang and he looked soo drop dead gorgeous in his Nikah baju melayu complete with his Songkok yang tinggi. And he looked quite nervous too taking deep breath a few times pretty obviously hehe…I was quite calm. And the procession went on quite well. At exactly 4.02 pm my watch, Abang lafaz akad sekali lafaz sahaja and we were officially husband and wife..Alhamdulillah.

A Day Before My Big Day...

Today’s Valentine’s Day, for those who celebrate it. As for me, I never celebrate today coz was exposed with the fact that Valentine’s Day is related to the St. Valentine of Catholic whatsoever’s death or whatnot, I dunno, don’t even care to know. Anyway, being a true Muslim, I shall not celebrate it. Period.

Anyhoo, my nikah nearly falls on today due to some circumstances. Luckily, at the end of the conclusion, both parties (my family and his) have agreed to set the nikah ceremony tomorrow after Jumaat prayer.

Kak Siti the Wedding Planner is coming this afternoon to set up the Nikah pelamin and send my hantaran that she had designed for tomorrow. But I have other plans and can’t be at home at that time. I need to find my nikah scarf at Jalan TAR! Kalau x, xbertudung aje la saye esok…no way jose…

The first place me and abang headed to was the Jakel. Finding the tudungs that perfectly match my wedding dresses was harder than I thought! Berpeluh2 jugak la minah perfectionist sorang nih hehehe..searching for the exact colour high and low. I was lucky coz everybody was very helpful in Jakel and abang especially, was extremely patient.. While I was contemplating on one scarf which I thought was the closest match to my nikah dress, 1 salesgirl said to me, “xpela kak, akak beli je yg ni..pastu akak bwk balik..kalau akak rase warna die mcm akak xkenan or xsame..akak dtg balik tukar dgn yg lain..”

Xbole dik…akak nk nikah esok ni..

Chorusly all the salesgirls there gasped in disbelieve. Hahahaa.. What to do, baju bersanding pn baru dpt semalam.. *sigh*

2nd place was the Gulati’s. The same procedure like at the Jakel went on again and this time was even harder coz my baju bersanding at the hall is peachy brown in colour so the colour was not so universal and to find the closest match was much troublesome. In the end, I chose a color that is light brown but can go with my peach dress.

Arrived home just in time. Kak Siti and team pn baru sampai. Kak Yanti, her assistant was busy amending my hantaran’s deco. While Kak Siti and her sister and her male workers were about to set up the Nikah pelamin. Mama, Cik Mu and her other friends were busy packaging some kerepek given by my kind neighbours especially for my wedding. The atmosphere was very cheerful and busy. Smells of fresh flowers filled up the whole house. Here’s some pics of the preparation. I’m so excited!

I've been tested...

And I failed...

Today was the 10th of Muharram 1429H in Islamic Calendar which is better known as the Day of Ashura.
As quoted from Wikipedia, the Day of Ashura is commemorated for the following occasions which may have happened on the 10th Day of the Muharram:

1) God had mercy on Prophet Adam
2) The deliverance of Prophet Nuh from the flood
3) Prophet Ibrahim was saved from Nimrod's fire
4) Prophet Yaakub's blindness was healed after Prophet Yusof's shirt was brought to him on this day (Quran)
5) Prophet Ayub was healed from his illness
6) The Israelites were saved from Pharaoh's army
7) Prophet Isa was brought up to heaven after attempts by the Romans to capture and crucify him failed.

On this occasion, we the Muslims are encouraged to fast on combinations of two or three consecutive days including the 10th of Muharram (e.g. 9th and 10th or 10th and 11th) following the Prophet Muhammad's Sunnah and believe to get multiple rewards from the Almighty swt if we helped/donate/ease up the pain of the unfortunate on this specific holy day..

However, somehow I've forgotten that today was Ashura, let alone I did not fast today, I've also been tested by Allah..by sending two beggars to my much astonishment:

1) at McD, Petronas Station while 'Q'ing at d counter with my lil bro, Imran and staring at the menus above the counter contemplating on what i shud eat, a very old Chinese lady, with an umbrella as her walking stick, tapped my shoulder from d back. As i turned around looking at her, she mumbled in Chinese while pointing at d menus above d counter. I assumed that she was urging me to make decision fast as i'm taking her time who was 'Q'ing just behind me. Quickly i showed her way to my front giving sign that she's welcome to jump my Q. But she keeps on mumbling and refused to move forward. As i was in a hurry, i quickly made my order and somehow it strikes my mind that perhaps she had no money but wanted me to lend some coz then i realized her gestures of rubbing her stomach n her pocket while mumbling. An air of sympathy suddenly breezed through me and quickly i turned around, to my much disappointment and surprise (coz that was only a minute after she talked to me!), she wasn't there! i felt goosebumps all over me when i looked around the restaurant and i can't see her in my clear vision as though she has just vanished thru thin air. Later, my heart sank and felt so mean..

2) Then we headed to Jln TAR to shop for my wedding. While i was in KAMDAR looking for a tux for my lil bro who's going to be my flower boy, a haggard-looking Malay lady, with her children tailing her, tapped me at the shoulder, again, whilst stretching out her hands near my handbag. I was too shocked to even think for a sec and immediately walked away coz i thought she looks suspicious..later, for the second time today, i felt guilty, mean and sad for not helping dat lady...

when i got back home, i told these 2 weird happenings to my mama n kakngah. I thought the 2 incidents was very weird coz in Malaysia, it's hard to find beggars in buildings. My kakngah replies, "Memangla, arini kn Hari Asyura...you've been tested."
Ya Allah, i've failed today

2nd 25th Birthday Celebration

This 2nd time i celebrated my birthday with my wonderful fiance.. :p was so gentleman of him to ask my dad's permission first, early in the morning (err..not that early..hee..) The venue was supposed to be a surprise for me..he did surprise me with flying colors, heeee..thought he wanted to bring me to a mamak restaurant or paling2 grand pun cozy corner ke..(xkisah la kn, as long as i can berbuka with him sambil tgk muke kekanda ku yg gorgeous itu weee..) but he drove me straight to Plaza Ampang basement parking lot..tup2 ehhh...berbuke at Crown Princess ke yang?? wiwiwiwiiiiii... :D

And it was truly sumptuous..the food was heavenly delicious and i can't stop eating sampai perut dah mcm mengandung 3 bulan...tegang tu..mcm pakai botox kat perut pun ade..erkk..and the big news is, i had my first dim sum here! meroyan kejap bile nampak ade dim sum yg pelbagai jenis...guess the chinese guy at the dim sum stall had already recognized me (bored seeing my face at his stall perhaps?? hihih..) ye la...asik dtg stall die jer....actually, there's a history about dim sum and me...and the story goes like this (kasik screen tv tu blurry skit plus gamba ade sepia effect tetiber):

"i spent my whole childhood in Pasir Gudang where we can get Indonesia and Singapore channels on our TV super clearly. Me and my kak ngah would switch to Singapore's SBC 5 everyday, religiously, before going to Sekolah Agama in the evening to watch mandarin dramas. Hitting me like a commercial ad, dim sum always appears in every drama and without warning, i would drool each time i saw them..mane taknyer, kecomelan bentuknyer yang pelbagai rupe yg unik dan texturenyer yg kilat2 basah itu sungguh meliurkan lagi menggugat jiwa kanak2 ku ketika itu...aduhhh sampai skarang pun sbnrnyer...heee"

Imagine i have been longing to taste a dim sum for nearly 20 years...however, comparing myself to the unfortunate, alhamdulillah, i am very lucky to at least have the chance..bulan Ramadhan ni kene insaf lebih skit..must always remember the unfortunate and help them by giving sadaqah more often..always remember, no matter how wealthy we are, how easy our life is...all these rezeki comes from the Almighty..and He can take it back from us anytime..so folks, let us always be humble and kind to those in need...seruan utk semua dan juge diri sendiri...

And makan jangan membazir..beli makanan byk2 kt bazaar, last2 basi jer..sbb byk sgt, x abis...speaking of membazir, just now, while i was choosing desserts before berbuka (this has actually been my habit since i was little, eating the desserts first instead of appetizers before the main course coz for me, appetizers should be sweet things like desserts and i'm such a sweet tooth, kaloh ore kelate, as validated by kelantaneses i.e. ming and biebozz) anyway, back to my story, a mother and her little girl was choosing desserts as well just beside me..overhearing the mother nagging the daughter..."jgn amik byk2, amik skit2 jer just utk rase..nnt x abis berdosa jer.." that line makes me smile coz it reminded me soo much of my mother and me when i was as little as the girl..she, just like the lady, always reminded us not to take too much food on our plate during buffet coz she knows pretty well, we are not going to finish it up and will end up by the waiters taking our still full plates away. Except my mom's favorite line ade tambahan kt blakang skit.."finish up your food..kesian kat org somalia...xmakan berhari2..kite yg dpt makan ni membazir2 pulak...baik beri pd org somalia food yg membazir tu..." i luv u ma, for teaching us to be a good khalifah on this earth..xoxoxo :) serba sebanyak, the pics of us that we took just now...
on our way to Crown Princess, in my kakngah's Bambi.
